EMS Muscle Training
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is EMS Training?
Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is the elicitation of muscle contraction using electric impulses. Its intended use is for the conditioning and strengthening of muscles. The impulses are generated by a device and deliver through electrodes on the skin directly above the muscles to be stimulated. During EMS Training, electrical impulses stimulate and contract your muscles for you as you use them so you feel more resistance in your muscles.
Who can do EMS Training?
Anyone from those brand new to working out to a professional athlete can use EMS training and see results four times quicker. Your trainer can customize the intensity level and work with you to match your specific needs and goals. EMS is easier on your joints than a traditional workout because you don’t need to lift heavy weights or jump the way you may in a bootcamp style or traditional gym workout.
Is it better than going to the gym?
With just a 20-minute EMS training session you see results four times faster than with a conventional workout. Electrodes are placed on your muscles that stimulate them in a way that the gym simply can’t do.
What do I wear?
We provide you with a thin cotton garment (top and bottom) and place the EMS suit on top. The suit is strapped on nice and tight and hooked up to the machine to send impulses. Shoes are optional.
How often do I need to train?
Most clients do about two sessions per week, which generates faster results. If you want to do only one session a week, EMS training is a good compliment to other workouts you enjoy like spin or yoga. We offer packages with 8-sessions or 12-sessions for flexibility and Memberships for those who are more committed to their fitness routine.
Can I do EMS Training if I have injuries?
Generally, yes, because it’s low impact on the joints and you can target (or avoid) specific areas. Always let a trainer know about any new or past injuries that you’re working with and always check in with your primary care physician before starting any type of physical activity.
What should I expect after my first session?
Every body is different and some may feel more sore than others. After your first session you’ll likely be your most sore! Take a good three-day break before your next session. In the meantime, water, magnesium and epsom salt baths will be your best friends!
The electrodes are placed directly on each important muscle group; so all the impulses reach their target.
As there are electrodes built into the training suit along the spinal column, those rarely trained muscles get worked as well. Muscles get stronger which lead to better posture and enhanced lower back muscles.
Achieve a Toned Body
Since it is an effective strengthening workout, it transforms how the body uses up calories. It is a very effective tool for the shrinking of body part circumferences and fat deposits under the skin.
The electric impulses work on the muscles directly, there is no pressure on the joints so they are not overworked as is often the case with weight workouts.
Balance Out the Muscular System
The built in electrodes can stimulate and develop all the muscle groups or just selected ones if desired, and so the otherwise “weaker links” of the body can be strengthened.
